Taxes

We had our taxes done today and are receiving a nice refund (both state and federal)! This is great news, as most of this money is already earmarked for our adoption expenses. Even though we were expecting this money, it is a nice feeling when it actually comes through. Unfortunately, our employer accidently credited some of Susie's earnings towards the state of Kansas, though we don't live or work in Kansas. Then they didn't pay any taxes on that income, so now we owe money to a state we don't live in or work in...Way to go payroll department! Hopefully it will all get worked out.
We have our second home study meeting today with our social worker. She is really great and we get along well. She is full of useful information about bonding with a child who has been in sub-par care for a short time. It is difficult for both of us to actually picture ourselves with this baby because it seems so far away. I do feel like we are making strides at getting all the paperwork completed, but then the actual waiting begins. This will probably be difficult, but we have the boys to keep us VERY busy.

First Post

This is the first official post on my new blog. Very exciting. I am not sure just what I will do with this site. Most of the talk will be about my family (wife, 3 boys, dog, parakeet and extended family). Much of the talk will be about our upcoming adoption from China. We are in the paperchase now and looking forward to completing our dossier! We hope to have a daughter added to this crazy mix in February of 2009...yikes, that is a long way off!! Everyday we are one step closer.
I am not sure how often I will get around to updating this site, but I hope to use it as a diary for my kids to look back on their lives and see the stuff we were all doing on a dialy basis. Should be fun.
I will explain more about the title of this blog and the web address in future posts. Thanks for reading.
